Bumrah could take a flight to New Zealand for back surgery

It’s possible that Jasprit Bumrah will travel to New Zealand for back surgery. A Kiwi surgeon who treated Jofra Archer has been identified by the medical staff of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and urgent arrangements are being made to have the pacer evacuated to Auckland as soon as feasible.

Bumrah may need to take a lengthy break from playing cricket, and he may not even be available for the Asia Cup (in August-September). His preparation for the World Cup in October-November is the BCCI management’s current top focus.

Umesh Yadav may have been selected for the Indian XI in the current Test against Australia in Indore because the Indian team is getting ready to play without Bumrah, even for a brief time.
