Virat Kohli is one of the few players to consistently support Test cricket. Throughout his seven-year tenure as India captain, he may not have captured an ICC trophy, but the way in which he changed Indian cricket goes far beyond any hardware. It is a tribute to Kohli’s vision that India won consecutive Test series in Australia, drew in England, advanced to the championship game of the first World Test Championship, and won the Test title for five straight years. It follows that it should come as no surprise that he became India’s most successful Test skipper.
India’s then-captain Virat Kohli had stated in October 2019 that he preferred only five locations for the nation’s home Test matches. Similar to Virat, Rohit Sharma, who succeeded Kohli as captain of India, holds his own set of views, which may or may not coincide with Virat’s. One such incident came to light the day before the third Test between India and Australia, which will begin in Indore, when Rohit rejected a suggestion Kohli had made four years before.
