Indian Premier League (IPL) batsman Shreyas Iyer is likely to miss the 2018 season owing to a re-occurring lower back problem that may require surgery. Despite the National Cricket Academy’s recommendation that Iyer have surgery, reports indicate that he has not yet made a decision (NCA). Iyer is more worried about his participation in the World Cup and the World Test Championship final than his team’s development, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Ajay Jadeja, a former India all-rounder, expressed his surprise that modern batters are experiencing back problems when this wasn’t the case during his playing days in response to the news of Iyer’s injury.
