After India’s catastrophic loss on Sunday, the stage has been set for a “final” at the Chepauk on Wednesday, with Australian tearaway Mitchell Starc serving as the main planner.
The Chepauk field, where Chennai Super Kings will play in the IPL beginning later this month, is probably going to be a custom-built slow track designed particularly with the franchise in mind. Yet, with his velocity and swing, Starc has the capacity to eliminate the pitch from the equation. On Wednesday, there is a good probability he will make the ball talk once more given the surrounding humidity and sea air.
In a post-second ODI analysis, Sunil Gavaskar made one point clear: attempt to play Starc as straight as you can, especially in the opening few overs.
