Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Australia’s Josh Hazlewood will not play in the opening Test against India.

Due to Josh Hazlewood’s anticipated absence from the opening match, which will start on February 9 in Nagpur, the visitors suffered a serious loss before this Border-Gavaskar Trophy began.

Hazlewood confessed that the left Achilles injury he sustained while playing hadn’t completely healed. His injury has caused Australia’s preparations to fall apart because this time they don’t have Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green (an all rounder).

Now, Hazelwood’s absence will open the gate for other players like Scott Boland. And, it will be his first foreign match.

The following three Test matches between India and Australia will be played in New Delhi, Dharamshala, and Ahmedabad after Nagpur. Australia last won a Test series in India in 2004, and India currently holds the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after winning the last three series against Australia in 2017, 2018–19, and 2020–21.
